Buy now or wait?

Our read, not the brands’. It’s opinion, built from their announcements and the models they replace, and each one covers its whole category.

Irons
Winter was game-improvement season: TaylorMade's Qi Max and Qi Max HL, Callaway's Quantum, Cobra's KING and KING MAX, Srixon's ZXiR, Tour Edge's Hot Launch Max and, in March, PING's G740, which PING calls its most forgiving and longest iron. Players' irons came all year, from Mizuno's M-13 and M-15 and Wilson's Staff Model in winter to Mizuno's Pro S-4 in September and Srixon's second-generation ZXi, due in shops Oct. 16. Women's sets came from PING, Callaway, Cobra, Srixon, TaylorMade and Tour Edge. Our read: whatever you play, get fitted for lie, length and shaft before you buy.
