Our read, not the brands’. It’s opinion, built from their announcements and the models they replace, and each one covers its whole category.
- Drivers
- Most of 2026's big drivers were announced in January: TaylorMade's Qi4D, Mizuno's JPX One, Cobra's OPTM, PING's G440 K and Callaway's Quantum. Titleist went its own way, announcing GTS in May for June shelves, and mini drivers kept coming, from Cobra's KING TEC-MD in January to Titleist's GTS300 in July. TaylorMade executives have said the company is moving to a two-year cycle and won't introduce a new driver in 2027. Women get PING's G Le4 driver plus women's builds from Callaway, Cobra, TaylorMade, Mizuno and Tour Edge. Our read: get fitted, and hit your current driver side by side with the new ones before you buy.
- Fairway woods
- Mini drivers were the fairway-wood story of 2026. Cobra pitches its 13.5° KING TEC-MD at better players who want placement and at golfers who want more forgiveness than a fairway wood, Callaway calls its Quantum Mini a fairway-finder or 3-wood alternative, and Titleist says the GTS300's deeper CG adds inertia on off-center strikes. At the other end, Callaway's Quantum Mini Spinner is a 7-, 9- or 11-wood that Callaway says adds spin on long approaches, and it comes in a women's build. Women's fairways also came from PING, Callaway, Cobra, TaylorMade and Tour Edge. Our read: buy a fairway wood to fill a real yardage gap, and get fitted.
- Hybrids
- Most 2026 hybrids arrived with their brands' winter woods: TaylorMade's Qi4D Rescues, Cobra's OPTM, Mizuno's JPX One, Callaway's Quantum in Max, Max OS and Max Fast shapes, and Tour Edge's Hot Launch Max. PING's women's G Le4 hybrids followed in March. Callaway describes its women's Max OS as oversized and draw-biased, for golfers who fight a right miss or need help getting the ball airborne, and TaylorMade calls its women's Max Lite the easiest-launching hybrid in the Qi4D lineup. Our read: map your lofts first, so your hybrids sit cleanly between your longest iron and your highest fairway wood, then get fitted.
- Irons
- Winter was game-improvement season: TaylorMade's Qi Max and Qi Max HL, Callaway's Quantum, Cobra's KING and KING MAX, Srixon's ZXiR, Tour Edge's Hot Launch Max and, in March, PING's G740, which PING calls its most forgiving and longest iron. Players' irons came all year, from Mizuno's M-13 and M-15 and Wilson's Staff Model in winter to Mizuno's Pro S-4 in September and Srixon's second-generation ZXi, due in shops Oct. 16. Women's sets came from PING, Callaway, Cobra, Srixon, TaylorMade and Tour Edge. Our read: whatever you play, get fitted for lie, length and shaft before you buy.
- Wedges
- Wedge launches ran all year. PING's s259 came in January, Vokey's SM11 and Callaway's Opus SP+ followed, and PXG's forged Stick'em arrived in March. Then came a late-summer rush: TaylorMade's forged Hi-Toe 5, Cleveland's RTZ 2, Callaway's Full Toe SP and Tour Edge's Exotics Milled all reached shops between Sept. 3 and Sept. 14. Vokey offers the SM11 in 27 configurations across six grinds, and Cleveland brought back the 588 grind in RTZ 2. We found no standalone women's wedge, but women's iron sets from PING, Callaway, Cobra and Tour Edge include wedges. Our read: pick bounce and grind for your turf and your swing, ideally with a fitter.
- Putters
- Stability is the 2026 putter story. Zero-torque designs came from Odyssey, TaylorMade (Spider ZT Max), PXG, Vice, Wilson, Tour Edge, L.A.B. (VZN.1i) and Bettinardi (Antidote Hexperimental #7 and #9), with Mizuno's M.Craft X Z2 and Z3 due Oct. 30 as 2027 models. Vice, Wilson and Mizuno each describe lining the shaft axis up with the head's center of gravity so the face resists rotation. Classic shapes got attention too, from Scotty Cameron's Studio Style additions and Mizuno's forged M.Craft City to Bettinardi's BB Series and L.A.B.'s first heel-shafted LINK blades. Women get PING's G Le4 Anser 2D, Louise and Oslo and Wilson's 33-inch women's 606 and Lakeview. Our read: roll several on a real green, and get your length and lie checked.
- Balls
- Ball launches bunched up in January: Titleist's Pro V1x Left Dash, AVX, Tour Soft and Velocity, Callaway's Chrome Tour, Chrome Tour X and Chrome Soft, Bridgestone's Tour B, Wilson's Staff Model, XXIO's HYPER RD and Tour Edge's Hot Launch. TaylorMade's TP5 and TP5x followed in February with a microcoating that TaylorMade says lays an ultrathin, even coat over the dimples, and Srixon's Q-Star Tour arrived in March. We found no women-specific 2026 ball launch in our audited U.S. releases through Sept. 14. Our read: choose on flight, spin and feel around the greens, and test a few on the short game before you commit.
