What changed since the last start

  • None reported for the AIG week itself. The latest reported changes came earlier in 2026: egolf says she put the Piretti putter in play this season, and GDO says she switched her 48° and 52° wedges to the then-unreleased Biting Spin 2 in early May, at the NTT Docomo Business Ladies. GDO's setting page from her June win at the Miyazato Ai Suntory Ladies lists the same clubs, shafts and ball she used at Royal Lytham.

What wasn’t reported

The reports we found didn’t cover these, so we’ve left them off the bag rather than guess.

  • The putter’s model name differs between Japanese sources, and two English sources name a different putter.
  • Wedge bounce, putter length and loft, and grip details aren't reported.

Our take

This is Tour Weekly’s opinion, not the player’s or any brand’s.

Shiho Kuwaki won a major with a yellow ball, and per egolf she's played a yellow Tour B XS since junior high. That's the first lesson: find a ball you can see and trust, then stop auditioning others. Her driver story is useful, too. In egolf's gear story she says she used to spin the ball too much, and the low-spin BX1LS brought her spin into the right window. If your drives balloon and fall out of the sky, a low-spin head is worth a fitting. It clearly suited Royal Lytham: egolf says her driving found a bunker only twice in four rounds on a course famous for its 174 pot bunkers. And her 48° Biting Spin 2 wedge earned its spot, sticking her third shot to about a meter on the first playoff hole to save par.
